Harbour City Bears
Harbour City Bears is Sydney's community group for bears, their admirers, and friends. The organisation embraces diversity and welcomes all individuals regardless of size, hair, age, gender, race, or religion. It is currently the largest bear association in the Southern Hemisphere, boasting over 1300 members. The group organises over 150 community-run, not-for-profit events annually. One of their major events is Bear Essentials, Sydney's premier "Bear" festival, held in conjunction with the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras. Harbour City Bears also runs the "Mr Harbour City Bears" competition, a yearly event where the winner acts as an ambassador for the club, volunteers at events, and raises money for a nominated charity.
