Two kinds of writing live on this shelf. The featured guides are the long reads — chapters, opinions, the occasional grudge — written for the weekends that deserve an actual plan. The Lowdown is the short stack: one page per question you'd genuinely type at 11pm, from where the gay bars are to what's on this weekend, kept current so you never dress up for a shut door.
How these get written
The unglamorous way: by going out, asking around, and writing down what's true even when it's inconvenient. Venues close, parties move, a strip that was roaring five years ago goes quiet — and the guides say so out loud, in the past tense, because a guide that pretends everything is fine is a guide you stop trusting. Dates get checked, rumours get labelled as rumours, and every page wears the date it was last properly revised.
