The Gasometer Hotel

The Gasometer Hotel, affectionately known as The Gaso, was a bluestone pub from 1861, converted into a multi-level live music venue situated on Smith Street in Collingwood. The main downstairs bandroom was uniquely designed with an arched, retractable roof and a large mezzanine overlooking the dancefloor and stage, providing an outdoor concert feel indoors. This space was celebrated for its L'Acoustics sound system, hosting long-form dance parties with both international and local artists. An upstairs bandroom catered to more intimate events or acted as a second space for full venue shows, creating a labyrinthine exploration experience for patrons. The venue was known for its eclectic music programming, drawing a music-loving crowd keen on discovering new acts or enjoying established bands. Unfortunately, The Gasometer Hotel is now permanently closed.
