Welcome to the 60s is a Big Gay Piano Bar community showcase celebrating the unforgettable songs of the 1960s. This decade saw the Golden Age of musical theatre meet a changing world, producing some of Broadway and cinema’s most enduring scores. Expect songs from musicals and musical films including The Fantasticks, Bye Bye Birdie, Camelot, West Side Story, My Fair Lady, Mary Poppins, Fiddler on the Roof, Hello, Dolly!, The Sound of Music, Cabaret, Funny Girl, Oliver! and Hair, plus many more surprises. From sweeping romantic ballads and classic Broadway showstoppers to the beginnings of rock, pop, and counterculture on the musical theatre stage, an extraordinary catalogue of music awaits. Whether you know every lyric to On The Street Where You Live, have been waiting your whole life to sing Don’t Rain on My Parade, or simply love an evening of brilliant live voices around the piano, come along, grab a drink, and enjoy a night celebrating the music of the ’60s. These community nights are all about bringing Sydney’s musical theatre lovers together — on stage and in the audience — for an inclusive, joyful night of great songs, great performers, and plenty of piano bar spirit.
