Big Gay Piano Bar proudly presents 'Thoroughly Modern Musicals', a community showcase celebrating 21st-century musical theatre. This event will feature songs from popular Broadway blockbusters, cult favourites, contemporary Australian works, and movie-to-stage adaptations that are becoming modern classics. Attendees can expect to hear tunes from shows including 'Wicked', 'Hamilton', 'The Book of Mormon', 'Waitress', 'Dear Evan Hansen', 'Come From Away', 'Six', 'Hadestown', 'Beetlejuice', 'Legally Blonde', 'Kinky Boots', 'Spring Awakening', 'Next to Normal', 'The Last Five Years', 'Moulin Rouge!', 'Heathers', 'Mean Girls', and 'The Prom'. The performance will encompass eleven-o’clock numbers, contemporary ballads, pop, rock, folk, and comedy, showcasing the extraordinary musical catalogue of the last 25 years. The night is designed for dedicated musical theatre enthusiasts and those who enjoy discovering great songs performed live. It offers an inclusive and joyful experience with great songs, performers, and a strong piano bar spirit. It's an opportunity to celebrate the musicals that are defining a new generation of theatre. Singers interested in performing are invited to submit an audition video or audio recording, along with their proposed song and musical, sheet music if available, and a suitable headshot.
