Queer Cinema

Queer Cinema is a monthly film event dedicated to celebrating queer stories of love, loss, joy, and history. Each session features a film screening, with complimentary drinks and snacks provided. Attendees are encouraged to bring their chosen family to enjoy this special night. July's featured documentary film is "Girl Like You" (2021). This intimate documentary, filmed over a six-year period, follows a couple as they navigate the effects of new body parts, changing gender roles, and evolving sexual identities. The film explores the fluidity of gender and sexual identity, as well as the sacrifices involved in nurturing a partner through life changes. The event is held on the third Friday of each month. To attend, you must be a library member. If you are not yet a member, the Waverley Library encourages you to join to access their extensive resources, including free e-books, audiobooks, e-magazines, and movie streaming services. Membership can be completed online.
