honeypot is launching a monthly queer dance event at the newly refurbished Colombian Hotel. This event, WAX, is centred around dancing with dark grooves and house beats. The night features an atmosphere with velvet couches and disco balls, encouraging attendees to dance, socialise, and enjoy the music. The lineup includes Claddy, Niki, and more artists to be announced. The event prioritises lesbians and trans people. Attendees who are not part of these communities are asked to reflect on their reasons for attending and are required to be accompanied by a responsible dyke or doll. A tiered ticketing system is in place to support this. Free tickets are available for First Nations mob and trans women, accessible via direct message for an access code. moneypot maintains a no-phones-on-the-dancefloor policy to encourage present-moment enjoyment and privacy, allowing phone use outside, in bathrooms, or in designated smoking areas. honeypot acknowledges that the event operates on the traditional, unceded land of the Gadigal people. All profits from moneypot events are directed towards paying rent to local First Nations organisations.
