Dykes after Dark is a vibrant event designed for connection, conversation, flirting, and making new mates within the lesbian, queer, and trans community. Limited spots are available, fostering an intimate atmosphere for attendees to socialise. The event aims to create a fun, loving, and inclusive third space where individuals can be challenged, find community, and build meaningful connections. Third Rodeo, the organiser, draws its name from the Third Place Theory, emphasising authentic connections forged outside of home and work. The word "Rodeo" signifies confidence, symbolising "not my first rodeo". Your support helps Third Rodeo raise funds towards opening a permanent third space in Magandjin (Brisbane). Guests will be greeted at the door and given a name card for a "Name Game" to encourage interactions, along with "Call me cards" for keeping in touch. The host, Anna (she/her), is a Meanjin-based film photographer passionate about queer joy and community. This event operates at a licensed venue. Attendees will be exposed to loud chatter, large crowds, background music, and mood lighting. Photography will be present, but guests can opt out. The venue is not fully wheelchair accessible, though efforts are underway for future fully accessible functions. Complimentary entry is available for people who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. Third Rodeo was established in 2023 to create a welcoming space for the Lesbian and Queer community, specifically for individuals aged 20 and up. Their events have been successfully hosted across various Australian cities, promoting relaxed, charming, and welcoming atmospheres for solo attendees or groups. Third Rodeo is a Lesbian/Non-Binary led small business dedicated to fostering community.
