Big Gay Day Brisbane 2026

Big Gay Day in Brisbane is Queensland's biggest LGBT street festival, taking place annually during the King’s Birthday Long Weekend. After 25 years, the event has moved from May to October, supporting local LGBTQIA+ charities through musical acts and drag extravaganzas. Organisers are bringing Big Gay Day back to its roots as a street party, celebrating the wild, colourful energy that made it iconic. The 2026 edition will be fully reimagined, marking 26 years of Big Gay Day. A series of pre and after parties will also occur across the city throughout the weekend. A VIP area offers meet and greets with performers, a complimentary drink upon arrival, gourmet BBQ, and prime viewing from an elevated stage side. The event draws over 3,000 attendees to its epicentre, The Wickham, one of Brisbane’s most iconic venues. The hotel has proudly supported the gay community since the 1970s and 25 per cent of the event's profits are donated to community charities. Paul Wheeler hosts the event.
