A Drag Is Born

In a twist of fate, an ordinary man is thrust into the spotlight to become the Queen of the Carnival. With advanced age, abundant body hair, and limited talents, he is an unlikely candidate for this role. A Drag Is Born is a seven-time award-winning, wordless solo performance, blending clowning, drag, and magical realism. It offers a joyful and moving celebration of queer identity, resilience, and self-acceptance. Created and performed by Edu Díaz, a theatre maker from the Canary Islands (Spain) based in New York City, the show has received critical acclaim in New York, Orlando, Los Angeles, Tenerife, and at the Edinburgh Fringe. Edu is making his Australian debut with the support of the Embassy of Spain. This performance has a running time of 60 minutes with no interval.
